There's no place quite like California. Imagine it - a beautiful place filled with beautiful people. Southern California is the land of sun and surf. Southern California does have a winter season, with slightly cooler temperatures, but even then the weather is wonderful year round. Plus, California has the advantage of not having hurricane season - there won't be any storms to interfere with vacation plans. There is something for every member of the family to be found in Southern California. Disneyland is the most popular attraction in Southern California for children and adults alike. Situated in Anaheim, Disneyland is a must-see if you are visiting this area. You can spend literally days there, so do not short- change yourself for time. There are many hotels in the area, even within walking distance so you can head back to the pool for a mid-afternoon swim and to recuperate for the evening festivities at the park. Disneyland can get extremely busy during peak seasons, so be ready for long line-ups, not only to get into the park, but for rides as well. But do not let this discourage you. The rides at Disneyland are fantastic and fun for the whole family. Children will find the entire experience absolutely enchanting. Be sure to get some pictures of your children with the Disneyland characters that can be found wandering through the park. If wilder rides beckon you, then visit Six Flags Magic Mountain in Los Angeles. They have a number of rides that will get your adrenaline flowing, but they are most known for their roller coasters. These coasters are among the highest, fastest, and most unique in the world. As with Disneyland, be prepared to stand in lines at Six Flags Magic Mountain. It's a popular destination for thrill seekers. Another major selling point for Southern California is its ocean beaches. Because of the refreshing breeze generated by the ocean, you can easily be tricked into spending too many hours in the sun. Too often people get dangerously sunburned. Be sure to carry sun block with you whenever you go out. Among the most beautiful beaches are Malibu and Santa Monica. Spend a day at Santa Monica shopping on the Promenade and visiting Pacific Palisades Park. You'll find both funky shops and higher end stores. The palisades are so beautiful with their high cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the palm trees waving in the breeze. The beaches are well kept but parking spaces fill up fast, so get there early. Southern California is a sun-lover’s paradise and fun for the whole family. There are so many things to do and sites to see, be sure to leave yourself plenty of time.
