How To Play Darts?

By:

Darts can be a very fun game to play. It is an old game that goes back to medieval times and ways to amuse the bored, who did not have access to televisions and other modern amusements. Darts has provided many a tavern, common room, and billiard room with activity. And today it continues to provide a unique activity for many in bars and in family game rooms.

The basic rules to the game of darts are the same, whereas the variations have to be picked up and agreed upon between rivals before the game begins. However, you have to give special attention to safety, no matter how you play the game because a dart can cause serious injury with lasting damage.

Generally, two teams or two people play darts. Each player is allowed nine throws before the beginning of the game, for warming up. In order to decide which team or person goes first, everyone gets a turn to play once. The team or person who ends up closest to the bull's eye gets the first turn.

Usually two sets of darts in two different colors are used. Each turn is a set of three throws. The two antagonists get their turns alternatively. After the first set is thrown the darts are left where they were, then the opponent throws the second set. This explains why first chance is significant because it leaves fewer options for the person who gets second chance.

There are few basic things to note before getting down to scoring. The darts that fall off the board in less than 5 seconds after the player's turn are not counted as valid. Then the darts that stick to another dart or fall of the board would also not be scored. However, the darts need not necessarily stay on the board after the person's turn. They need to stay only during the person's turn. Thus, the first person can count up the scores before second person or team use their turn.

The scoring depends on how closer your hit has been to the bulls eye. There are wedges on the dartboard that are cross-sectioned by rings. In the outer ring score is according to number hit, in the second ring number gets doubled and in the third ring tripled. The bull's eye has two rings. The outer one scores 25 and the inner gets you 50 points.

After you know the basics you can get down to the enjoyable variations such as playing Cricket or '301'. You can either be the person who has a 301 score or the person who wants to reduce the other person's 301 down to zero. Points are given according to position on target. Cricket is more complicated and requires a lot of dart practice.

Darts is an old game with rich heritage. It is a fun game to spend time with friends and family since you can play and at the same time converse. The game gets more enjoyable if you know the rules and scoring method well.
